Coilovers And Insurance Q

It would be nice to think that if you mod your car in ways that improves its handling, and performance, therefore making it safer, than a standard car, in equal conditions, that you should actually get discount. :)

But our friends in the insurance industry would argue that the cost to replace these parts, increases the value of your car, and associated repair/replacement costs, therefore you will have to pay more insurance to cover these. <_<

Also as you're modding your car, and you want it to go faster or handle better, in insurer's eyes, that would make you a higher risk, therefore again higher premiums.

B.T.W. do Insurance companies employ ex-estate agent employees who were considered too ruthless for the property market?

Like Gord says, your premium will more than likely go up when you fit coilovers.

What annoys me most of all is that they increase the premium and tell you that 'its because the value of your car has increased', yet if it came to a situation where they had to pay out on your car, you would only be covered for factory replacements :angry::angry:
