Make A Chrome Grille By Removing The Top Layer?

Hi, i seriously have been searching 40 minutes for this topic but couldn't find it. Apparantly you can remove the top layer of the original grille and it would be chrome underneat. Can anyone explain how to do this and has anyone a picture of this?

The edges of this grill have been turned chrome.

Not sure how it was done however.

you are right as the standard old, new and LE grill all have been chromed before painting. I have no idea why on the LE because its all black and the old and new standard ones have a chrome ring round them as shown in pic above so it does make a little sense but why chrome the whole lot before painting?

you could try paint stripper but I dont know if it wont affect the chrome effect. it may be paint not actual chrome underneath.
