hi everone mark brown here

i have had my is200 now for almost a year and yesterday my disc player stopped working it has error on the display. So i phone up lexus sheffield and they tell me that it is a common fault but to rectify i have to be without my whole in car entertainment for two weeks and also it will cost upto £400.00 pounds to replace the mechanism that is more than a whole new hifi. So when i explain that if its a fault they should replace them i was told that anextende warranty of 5 years was given to the hifi but as mine is 7 years old i am out of that period. is there anyone know of a cheaper way of sorting out my beloved in car entertainment for a cheaper price?

was it displaying ERR 3 by some chance?

I recently had the dredded err3 message there is some cures for it if your do a search other than that

i paid £300 all in to have an aftermarket stereo fitted

i was thinking of that but wanted to try and keep it looking original and it is not a bad system. could you attach just a changer in the boot?

Have a look on eBay mate. Original stereos are always popping up on there. But make sure you get the same for your car ie Sport / SE as S model is different and also make sure you get top or bottom loading CD. Which ever you've got . :)

a mate of mine who is a car radio specialist is looking at mine as we speak if he sorts it out and its not too expensive i will let you all know if you want? if you wanted to ship it to me then i would be hapy to take it to him and post it back you never know he may give me some commission i can imagine i could keep him busy lol!

hi well i have been around quite a few car audio places they all come back with the same answer that is we cant do anything with them systems. try to go back to lexus or put in a replacement one. So if you have any joy please let me know thanks

gutted just got mine back from my mate as i half expected he said he couldn't get any service info for it and couldnt justify spending hours on it even though i did repairing his :tsktsk: television. anyway i'm gonna get a power supply set up in my house and have a proper look at it it can only be the mechanism out of sync/timing trouble is it only has to be one tooth out!

will let you know if i get anywhere....
