Any luck finding the car, and is that dude who uploaded the pic someone you know? or someone who has seen the car since it was stolen?

I assume the forum software keeps a record of IP addresses used to post - ISP's also log which user account is logged on using which IP address so in theory you could trace where this was posted..assuming not done in internet cafe etc then could help trace the car.

Admin - Do you keep a record of IP addresses for users logged on?

all posts show IP addresses to admin staff

further investigation can be done if this poster is in any way under suspicion

cross matching it, no other member has used the address, or has posted from it before

ive taken a copy of the image to ask her if its one she's taken, think i know where its been taken too, which is just outside Congleton

profile states the poster is from Congleton

Can't see any EXIF data on the image either. If they removed it, they would know how to hide their IP behind something else.

Most cheap/free resizing software removes exif data so I doubt that gives any indication of their hacking/hiding abilities.

Right i've spoken to Tori and she assures me that its not a photo she's taken, can a member of staff look more into this members profile.

As far as the police are concerned its still a missing vehicle

What is the IP? It's not legally classed as private information. (yet). Certainly in this case I'm sure it is justified.

A few questions..

1. Was the car paid out to through the insurance ?

2. If then found does the rightful original keeper get notified ?

(as the insurance company then have title I believe )

3 .Is the car still on the stolen list ?

There should be a Police involement depending on the answers above ??
