Exclamation Mark Permanently On :-s

Recommended Posts

Hi Guyz

Driving to work the morning and the exclamation mark symbol is permanently on. :duh:

I only noticed it ever come on when the hand brake is lifted. The hand brake isnt stuck on, well it drives and doesnt feel slugish.

Had the front brakes changed over 3 weeks ago and ive checked the brake fluid reservoir and its upto max level.

Also fitted a Bluetooth hands free kit last night but that only has 3 connections live/ign/earth so it cant be that!

Any ideas guys?

Have you checked your rear brake lights pal?

I've had this problem before, in my case, the 3rd brake light bulb was blown. I'd check the rear brake lights, inc. the 3rd brake light in the back windscreen.

You'll need to check the manual for this - if the handbrake light is on permanently I think it's telling you there's something wrong with the ABS or something like that.

Make sure you check the manual to find out what it means - I would check but don't have the manual to hand right now

Was it the handbrake light that was on, or the picture of a car with lines coming out of the back (yellow light)?

Anyway, yeah the whole light cluster comes out. Open the boot, you'll see two circles next to the light - pop the caps off, remove the two screws and pull the light towards you.

They're just normal screws as far as I remember......

It was the Exclamation Mark in brackets that lights up red. (!)

Had the cluster off and the bulb seems ok. They all work. So ive put it all back and the light has gone off... very strange i'll have to keep an eye on it. :-S
