Caliper Pin

Just had a failed MOT because the rear discs and bearings needed replacing on the offside, had all this fixed. The Guy at the MOT centre also told me I had a pin missing from one of the rear calipers and I need to buy a whole new caliper that I'd only replaced less than a year ago.

Can I just buy a pin from Lexus and is it easy to fit?

If I need to shell out on a whole new caliper is it worth waiting on or is it going to cause me big problems in the future?

i cant remember the lay out of the rear calipers but i cant recall them being the sliding type( like the fronts) ask him to explain exactly which pin is missing... i can remember a pin that holds the pads in but u can get this clevis pin from nearly every car motor factors.

i think he is trying it on...

Anyone know what size Clevis pin I will need and the pin to hold it in? as there are many on ebay cheap.

:duh:

Just fitted rear brake kit, inc Pins, shims, springs, clips, etc was £70 inc VAT from Lexus (Rip Off)

But there is only one pin each side the pads would just be loose without it :excl:

If its just the pin and 'R' clip and you can't get one PM me your address and I will send the ones I just took out of my car.

Thanks for the info m8, I had put the car in for the MOT and the discs needed changing.

Think the idiots at the garage broke the pin but they are denying all knowledge of it ever being there, going back tomorrow to have a go at them and see If i can get it sorted out.

Will let you know what happens tomorrow and if i need you to send me one. Thanks for the offer I really appreciate it. I've been trying to find the correct size all night. Lol

just call lexus and get the pin from them - if infact it is missing.... get them to show you what is missing then go from there, because one persons definition of a pin could be totally different from anothers.

Also if the pin is missing then the rear pads will be loose and not held in as the retaining spring is held in place by the pin.

I doubt they broke it - that would be impossible, lost maybe...... also if u can get a pic with you phone or something then that would be great.
