Is200 Supercharger

Hi everyone

i was looking into getting a supercharger conversion for my car. i've tuned and rebuilt turbo engines before but i know very little about superchargers. i'd appreciate it if somebody could help me out??

what sort of boost do they run?

how is the boost controlled? (electronic / mechanical?)

do they need the stuff turbos do, i.e. intercoolers, dump valves, etc.

do internals need to be changed? (lower compression, larger injectors?)

does ecu need remapping?

oil and coolant pipes?

New manifolds needed?

where is the majority of the gained torque, low, medium or high revs?

power gains for 1G-FE? (dyno results would be helpful, thanks)

what's max torque for manual gearbox?

Clutch upgrade?

any feedback or critisisms would be helpful! photos or documents of projects would be cool too. (n.b. turbo / engine conversion not an option for me due to insurance company restrictions)

Thanks

Run a search on here and most if not all of these questions have been answered a million times.

what sort of boost do they run? 0.3

how is the boost controlled? (electronic / mechanical?) Mechanical I believe

do they need the stuff turbos do, i.e. intercoolers, dump valves, etc. No, however an intercooler is needed

do internals need to be changed? (lower compression, larger injectors?) No

does ecu need remapping? No - piggy back ECU provided

oil and coolant pipes? No

New manifolds needed? No

where is the majority of the gained torque, low, medium or high revs? Supercharger works from the go...but peaks at about 5 rpm

power gains for 1G-FE? (dyno results would be helpful, thanks) check out TTE

Clutch upgrade? No

Intercooler comes as part of the kit

0.3 bar

Mechanical

do they need the stuff turbos do, i.e. intercoolers, dump valves, etc.

Intercooler, but comes as part of the kit, dump valve not really much use

do internals need to be changed? (lower compression, larger injectors?)

No

does ecu need remapping?

Standard ECU can not be remapped, a piggyback ECU is supplied with the kit

oil and coolant pipes?

Standard

New manifolds needed?

Nope, its advisable to remove the precats but not neccessary

where is the majority of the gained torque, low, medium or high revs?

Low to middle

power gains for 1G-FE? (dyno results would be helpful, thanks)

around 50BHP, see my dyno graph below

what's max torque for manual gearbox?

not sure on the maximum the box will take but the supercharger ups it to 247Nm, 185 lb/ft. Again see graph below

Clutch upgrade?

Not neccessary but I upgraded mine to the Helix

Run out and get one now :)

Thanks for that guys, nicely kept engine iceman, what exhaust system do you have underneath? 6-1? 6-2-1? will surely get 1 asap!

is it possible to increase boost? (electronic control possible?)

what piggyback ecu is supplied? dyno mapping necessary? are further inceases possible with further remapping? details would be helpful, thanks.

i'm to contact going to contact tte and prolex for quotes. any other types about?

any goin secondhand? :D

thanks again

6-2-1 is standard

yes with pulley size increase

standard TTE ecu

no

yes but fuel system has to be upgraded = ££££

prolex is cheaper than tte, but doesnt matter where u get the kit from its the same one

Cheers mate, manifold is just a standard on with the precats removed.

With the s/c fitted the IS is near the fuel limits. Upping the boost is possible with a pulley upgrade, then you'd be looking at upgrading the fueling. After that would follow a new manifold then a bigger intercooler. But then your spending a lot of money for not much more power increases.

No mapping necessary mate, TTE design the kit as plug and play. Everything you need is included in the kit.

Prolex would be your best contact now as they have bought TGB's remaining stock, and they are doing a good deal.
