Universal O2 Sensor - Which One? Gs300 Mk1

Recommended Posts

OK, so it's pretty certain I'm going to need to replace my O2 sensors. To be honest, they are so cheap it seems ludicrous not to on an engine that has covered the miles mine has (172k and rising). So, the question is:

This one, this one, this one or this one?

I looked at what I think is the O2 sensor on the manifold on the left as you look at the engine and this has 1 wire, so that would be the first one shown here, but are there any more? Am I right in thinking there are three? If so, where are the others and do they have more wires?

Thanks in advance.

If your sensors are 4 wire then you can get 4 wire sensors from the UK.

Try searching for Lanbda sensors on eBay uk.

Just checking in to see if anyone has a definitive answer on which O2 sensors I need.

I'm pretty sure there are two on the manifolds at the top of the engine, each with one wire. Judging from research here on the board there is also one down by the cat, but does anyone know how many wires it has?

Hi

I have just changed all 3 sensors on my 1996 Mk1 GS300. I fitted 4 wire universal type which I purchased from here:- http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/lambda-sensors.php You will have to unplug, then cut the wiring and then re-wire as stated :- http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/lambda-wiring-advice.php I also changed my Cat which I also purchased from here:- http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk/lexus-ca...c-converter.php The sensor underneath the car is a bit of a pain as you have to pull the carpet out on drivers side floorwell to get at plug etc. but otherwise, an easy job.

Sensible prices and job done :)

It looks like the sensors changed from 1 wire to 4 wire in '96 judging by a discussion I was having in another thread. Mine has 4 wires and is '96, a '95 had single wire sensors. As far as I know, the exhaust one is the same as the engine bay ones, so just go for a 3rd one of the type you have in the engine bay.

That's the best price on a CAT i've seen so far in that link. The sensors can be sourced much cheaper from the US if you needed to though.

sorry to resurrect an old post but looking at the universal O2 Sensors from Cats-Direct, which of the two 4-wire O2 sensors do i need? the one with the two white wires (i.e. black, grey, white, white) or the dearer one with Black, Red, White, Yellow???

I need to order some for my GS300 Sport Mk1 '96 which is currently running low on MPG... (19 even on a run!)

If someone could answer on the quick that would be greatly appreciated!! :-)

regards,

Nick
