Changing Is200 Sparkplugs

I've seen a post on another forum detailing how you change the sparkplugs on the IS200 and it looks pretty complicated, involving removing the throttle body. There seem to be an awful lot of hoses, wires and other gubbins to unclip, and then remember to put back on! I'm used to just being able to access the plugs, without removing anything else first!

For someone who's not a regular car mechanic, how complex is this process (can't find anything on the LOC knowledge base). If it's only going to cost a small amount for my usual garage to do it for me, then I'd rather pay for it than get all the hose connections messed up.

Secondly, where's the fuel filter located and how easy is that to change?

who said you have to remove the throttle body - whoever it is hit them with a big stick and very hard !

take the airfilter box and snout off - a few bolts. you will then see the coil packs on top of the cylinder head - unplug these and then unbolt the coil packs ( 6 of them) you will then need a long extension to reach the plugs.

its easy!

Cheers mate, just done it. Even with my extension bar, it was tricky to get them out. The one nearest the windscreen was interesting!

The car's coming up on 49,000 miles and the centre electrode of the old plugs was very small and pointy compared to the new plugs. When do they normally get changed?

What were the plugs that came, sound like iridium Power from the electrode description.

The old ones are IFR6A11, the new ones are IFR6T11 which according to this site is the recommended plug. Not sure what the difference is between the old and new. As far as I can tell, the old ones are the original plugs, but as the car's just come up on six years, and my fuel economy is poor, I thought I'd change them. I'll have to see if that, plus a new K&N panel filter make any difference.
