Autoglass are jokers! I had a stone chip on my Lex and heard the advert for autoglass. I rang the 0800 number and the following day a young chap came to my house to repair it. After waiting 10 minutes for him to finish a telephone call off he simpy plugged something into my cigarette lighter socket and cracked my screen.

He then said it will be £65.00 for a new one, would you like one ordering? I replied, yes! He then made another phone call and informed me that i had to pay £475 towards the cost of a new one.

I suggested he got in his van and went. I rand RAC and they assured me that the £65 excess would apply and it would be 2 days to order the windscreen & clips and would i prefer to go to them to have it done or have a home visit?

2 days went by and having agreed to have it done at there's because of the English weather, 3 hours later and it was sorted. There are only 2 screens for the IS250, mine is the top of the range one. My snooper, Lexus breakdown sticker, Supaguard sticker and tax disc were all put back in there respective place.

A top job!

My windscreen cracked and my car was only a few months old. I rang my insurance who put me in touch with Autoglass who said that if I wanted a Lexus screen rather than a generic there would be an excess to pay over and above the standard £50 unless there was no generic available. Luckily there was no generic available (probably because the model had only been out a few months) and I had the SE-L screen with the rain sensor.

I took it to be fitted at their centre as I didn't want it done outdoors. They were OK I guess, I watched the guy like a hawk who was doing the work. It took two of them to actually get the screen out. At the end they wanted me to sign that I was happy with the work and I explained I couldn't do that til I had inspected the car. The guy looked a bit put off but who signs for something like that without viewing the work??!!

I was thinking that the car was noisier after the screen was put in but having driven other cars I don't think it is.

Not had any problems since (touch wood).

You can read about it here - the screen was going to take months to come from Japan as there were no spares in the country.

Haven't needed a new screen yet, but both my front and rear screen were taken out a couple of weeks ago to have a minor ding in the roof repaired. The bodyshop used a contract specialist, but I don't know who. When the rear screen was out I collected it and took it to 'TintR'. Both screens were re-installed with no problems..top job.

After my experience with Autoglass i wouldn't recommend there services to anyone. Especially letting them loose on your Lexus. U.K number 1 glass specialist? My arse!!!! :tsktsk:

Autoglass replaced the screen on my IS200 Sport. The replacement glass screen was fine, heated & tinted as it should be, but the idiot cut through the interior trim on the A pillars when taking the cracked screen out. Worst thing was I didn't notice until I looked at it in decent light and already signed the acceptance form (had to be done in a multi storey car park in Leatherhead, 100 miles from home) :tsktsk:

I made the mistake of letting them change my Audi's in my garage...

They broke one of the plastic cowls on base edge of the screen and left "indents" on the other 3, and the fitter blamed the weather  ...the screen they fitted also distorted the vision for a full 3 inches all across at the base...

I booked it in again, to be done at their workshop with an OEM screen only, and watched them like anything...one of the new cowls didn't fit - I think it came from the old A4......so I got them to get Audi to deliver one there an then (took an extra hour)...they don't come across too bothered and ust shrug their shoulders when soomething goes wrong...'cos your insurance company pays the bill, not you...and in my case no excess either. I wonder if they even worry about any complaints?

lol..cant beleive this thread is still live.

well my experience is no different from all yours..it was a chip repair attempt at first..which cracked ..ok fair enought sh!t happens...but the constantly fed me lies about when its being done..and then phoning /or not on 1 occasion that they cant do it that day..excuses including screen they had has damaged and had to go back (ok..possible..but why a week after did they ask me to pop down to the local centre to see which they need to order??) and they are obtaining one direct from Lexus and not there usual procurement centre...the call centre not progressing my compliant and not returning promised calls..anyway...when it finally got replaced they didnt ask for the excess...which i thought was a good will gesture...only to find when i got home from holiday an invoice from them in the post!!

i sent it back and told 'em to whistle!

tbh..when i complained to my insuarance co. (tesco) about what was happening they were pretty useless as well

I beleive i have already put this but here goes again. There are only 2 windscreens available for an IS 250. My particular screen is the top of the range one. It has light sensor, rain sensor, heated windscreen wipers. I beleive the other one hasn't rain sensors OR heated wipers. Not sure as i don't own this particular one
