I been using my Air Con now and then and at times for longish periods i.e today in traffic but Im not sure if its buring my Petrol or Gas......My Petrol needle is still in the same place for ages and has not moved so was not sure....Can anyone enlighten me with this useful info.

It would depend if your car is running on Gas or Petrol at the time... As whatever it is running on currently would be what it is burning.
