Roof Strips / Trims

Recommended Posts

Do the roof strips need to be stuck down on the IS200? (the painted plastic fillers running down either side of the roof - in the troughs where the roof rails would be.)

One came off in the car wash recently and looking at either end there looks like some sort of catch mechanism but it's been coated with black stuff which is now hard (I'm guessing this might be the remnants of glue). I'm a bit uneasy now going down the motorway when these strips are only held down by pretty weak friction.

Thanks for your help.
