Thirsty Rx

had an RX350 for the last few days that my dad purchased,he gave it to me to see what was going on with the mpg.I must say its drinking loads of fuel,he got it used on a 56 plate with 5k on the clock and has been back to the dealer with it,but they say all is fine(as usual). The trip info seems to be telling me that its returning 20mpg when im driving normally. If i rag it the little yellow bar that runs across the info screen stays well below the 15mpg,after refuelling its given me a return of 17.3mpg and i aint really doing anything other than start stop driving and accelerating at the same pace as i do in any car,the M3 returns 23 at best and 20mpg when im ragging it.i allowed it to hit the reserve level and filled it with £25 of superunleaded from tesco, that was yesterday and its now finished after 120miles of motorway driving with an average after refuelling of 19mpg.why is it so thirsty, cos the other RX300 we have gives back 25-28mpg on the trip screen and i ragg that loads.Do you think that there maybe something up with this car,cos its drinking fuel like nothing we've ever had b4.any advice would be appreciated. Is this normal?

sorry just realised i posted this in the wrong forum, soz.

Check out RX forum for a similar thread started by me. In short how many miles you have on RX 350?? Mine was similar to yours up until about 3000 miles. Now I get about 19-21mpg on short journeys and have seen 31 a few times on a steady 70mph cruise.

As for ragging it, remember it is a 270+ bhp 3.5l V6 petrol in a 2 tonne car and it will like a drink !!! :-)
