Twin Charging

is it possible to add a sc to a already turbo'd altezza ? i realise the work involved would be quite alot but is it possible .

would the car then need constant engine checks after every outing ?

can any kit be used or would it have to be a perticular one ?

Yes it is possible. We have done it before (not an Altezza).

If the package is properly designed and executed there should be no need for constant engine checks.

There isn't an "off the shelf" kit available, so it would need to be custom manufactured which will be relatively costly to do properly.

I would love to see a lexus with this done, go for it elexes :D lol

I beleive the new VW GOLF GT is the first production car with both supercharger and turbo.

Have seen somewhere a scobby with i think it was 1 supercharger and 2 turbo chargers but it might have even been 2 superchargers as well.

I think they had sometiming dificulties when i last saw it tho

any benifits to doing this, appart from torque being delivered smoothly then a double whamy of turbo power a bit later on ? i know the group b lancia rally car was supercharged and then turbo charged and that car looked mental.

should be possible but not with the TTE ones there is not enough space

I don't see what would be the gain of having 2 SC on the IS engine, on a V10 or V12 allright but one is enough to feed a 6 cylinder engine

This exercise has been done before. Power Enterprise made a Super-Turbo setup using there rotary s/c kit and turbo kit. It didn't make it as a production piece, instead you can buy either Turbo or S/C from them, not sure why they never released the Super-Turbo kit, must of been some technicalitys.

I have some pics somewhere..

im using a pe turbo now . ill send them off a mail see if they come up with any suggestions .

im guessing it would bring the probloms with timing belts and superchargers with it as well .

Damn, that's a nice bit of engineering to have been launched back in the 80s........VW made such a big fuss about the Golf GT almost 20 years later :o

What a ridiculous pile of c**p to fit all that to though
