Hi Guys, Have just got my lovely black GS300SE and although it has full Lexus history it is due a few jobs, do any members recommend a non Lexus garage in Warwickshire area ? Car has done 53K but Lexus tell me it should have had a cam belt @ 6 years ? Looking through posts this appears correct, but although i have spannering aptitude i have not changed a belt before. Changing the plugs looks hard enough

So out of the 26 members who have viewed no one lives in my county, well i did wonder how exclusive the GS300 would be and after playing spot the Lexus for a few weeks before buying mine (2 GS's sighted, loads of IS's) it would appear i have the county to myself, bit lonely though

Hi mate and welcome to LOC.

I don't have a GS and I don't live in your area or else I would certainly pass on any info and advice.

I am quite surprised that the GS boys on here have not made a reply. The GS owners on here as the RX are thin on the ground and you usually get a warm welcome.

If you are not going to a Lexus main dealer then try searching for a specialist service centre in your area. One that carries out work on top of the range motors. Usually word of mouth is best from customers who have used them regulary. I think a cam belt is about 3.5 hours labour + parts.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Terry

C'Mon GS owners if your'e reading this post help the guy out. Or at least say Hello :D

Big thanks to Rikos, Terry and Adie for the replies. I will checkout Thor Racing, thought i knew all the places in my home town !!. My mate has a garage but only does electronics mainly BMW and Merc, very little software available for Lexus. He does business with loads of garages in the area and has asked 3 today if they have ever done a cam belt on a Lexus and none had, we are indeed a rare breed !!

thanks again guys, i will try for a Midlands meet and try to blend in with all those IS's. I did try one for two weeks as i think they are great cars fuel consumption was a shocker though  having said that early days in the GS (still on 1st tankfull) :crybaby:

Welcome.

Belt and plugs can be changed at home, you just need a good tutorial and the tools!

I highly recommend www.clublexus.com for things like that, as they have hundreds of active GS members on there.

Sorry, I don't know any garages up your way.

p.s. pictures needed of your new car!

Keep an eye on the club meets board. If your are free on the 10th June, were having a midlands meet in Stafford be a good day to meet some members.

Hope you can make it.

Once i get the service side sorted i need to get a few other bits resolved, i don't like the plate, don't like the gold badges and i don't normally bother but the wheels are a bit bland.

Itinerary:

Service + belts and plugs

4 wheel alignment

Resolve stereo display

Source silver badges or remove/paint black

private reg

Feed the leather

Dont bother with 4 wheel alignment. Pop down to Tony (WIM) at STS Watford and he'll do you a proper geometry check up. One of the best things you can do for your car.

I agree allignment is a waste of money, the Dr will get it done properly for you.

I wil take the advice on the alignment.

One more befor i move to main forums, spoke to a guy i know today , he used to work 4 a big dealer network which had 2 Lexus franchises. He said that if they had a Lexus in as a px he was told by his collegues at Lexus not to give proper money for one with gold badges !! He doesn't remember why but has anyone heard of this and if so the reasons for it ?
