Hello,

I've a Lexus IS200 1999 with 80,000 miles. Does anyone know when the timing belt should be done. Some dealers have said 60,000 miles and some have said 100,000 miles.

Also should I also have the Timing Belt Tensioners done as well?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Yad

Hello and welcome to the LOC mate.

The timing belt on your car should be replaced at 100,000 miles or 10 years according to the lexus warranty and care book page 14, but for piece of mind i'd personaly have it changed and get the belt tensioner done at the same time? There are a few topics on this on the loc site so if you use the search function you should be able to find out what other members have done hope this helps

Chris... :)

Gord you must be able to type faster than me mate :D

If you do a search this topic has been covered many times but the handbook does say 100k or 10 years but Lexus did change this and it should be 60k or 6 years.

Many people have not had theirs changed till 100k but i would recommend getting it done before then. Also i dont think many garages will change just the belt as you should get the tensioner and belt done mate.

Hope this helps.
