Mudguards & Spray

Having driven my RX400 since Jan, I have noticed that when driving through puddles the water is pushed up over the car instead of away from it, as you might expect. Note I was advised by the dealer when purchasing the car that mudguards were not necessary as they were only a couple of inches deep and therefore ineffective.

Recently when driving through heavy rain on M25 I drove through some surface water and was blinded when all the water came over the windscreen for what seemed like minutes, reality was probably just a second or 2. Nonetheless very dangerous, especially as the automatic wipers took a moment too long to register what was going on.

Anyone else experience this? And is having mudguards fitted the answer?

The main reason for "mudflaps" is to stop mud / dirt going on to the bodywork of your car.

It won't stop water going on to the windscreen. Going through "surface" water and it covering the screen sounds like it must have been a very deep puddle! I have never experienced what you have in your car and the difference in shape of your model and the MK1 is negligable at the front.
