Hpi Check Help!

Hi,

Im just about to buy a IS300 but want to do a HPI check.

with all the different companies out there offering checks such as AA, hpi, car watch etc.. which is the best one out there?

Just had a quick look and the RAC do checks for £24.99 which they reckon are powered by HPI, I don't know if they're as thorough as the £39.99 checks from HPI themselves though?

i've always used the AA they found 3 different checks on 3 cars i hpi with them. they came up trumps for me and you get your clean bill of health certificate :)

ive just hpi'd the car using hpi check and the car has come up with "mileage discrepancy".

..everything else is clear i.e not a write off..no finance owed..insurance clear etcc. is the mileage discrepancy something to be worried about?.

Not sure - does it give any further details?

This came up on my IS when Tom bought it, showed a discrepency between 70 and 80k, even though I can guarantee it was all ok.

I assume that the milage was incorrectly recorded during a service as that's all I could think of that would cause this issue?

not really unless the previous owner has all mot certs or you can check with vosa and check out its service history all this should marry something up

mileage problems are very common , when you think you are asked for the mileage at tyre changes ,services,mot's,tax renewal etc.it is very easy for someone to put down the wrong number or sometimes just round up the figures for example 79,555 can be put down as 80,000 .got to be honest i did it myself today when getting tax online for my van i just rounded up the number because i was not with my van at the time .put down 105,000 and its around 104,000+ .the problem arises when i go and get tyres in the next few days and the bloke who fits them puts in the exact mileage thus making a mileage discrepancy with HPi
