Gs300 Vs Gs 430 Advice Required Please

Recommended Posts

I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A GS 300 SE 2002 WITH 40K AND A GS 430SE SPORT 01Y WITH 65K.

THESE VEHICLES ARE BEING SOLD FOR THE SAME MONEY,WHAT IS THE BEST CAR/VALUE?. HELP WITH THE RUNNING COSTS COMPARISON.

WHAT WOULD BE EASIER TO SELL AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS.

ANY ADVICE GREATFULLY APPRECIATED.

I'd take the 430. 65k is nothing with such a large engine, providing all other factors (eg both having full service history etc) are constant and the general condition of the cars is the same. The running costs are not significantly different; the 430 uses a tad more fuel but not as much extra as you'd think, and other costs eg tyres, brakes and insurance won't be much more either.

However, the 300 will be easier to sell later on as the general perception of the public is that anything with a V8 will be ruinously expensive to run, and it will always be a year or two newer than the 430.

The question is - will you want to sell such a great car as the GS430 after just a couple of years? That muted V8 roar, and being shoved back in the seat when you put your foot down is just addictive. It's kind of like an aircraft on a runway - big comfy seat, the front lifts slightly and the back drops slightly, and then a shove in the back that never seems to end...

Incidentally - is it really a 430 Sport? I thought they only did the Sport in 430 guise after 2003, which means the one you're looking at is probably a standard SE with a bodykit on it. Real Sport models have lowered and modified suspension as well, which this particular one may not have.
