Badge Or De-badge

Hello again,

Bought a new 220d last week, when i ordered car i asked the dealer if he could De-badge the Lexus and is220d Yes we can he said.

But when i went to pick up car, badges were still on, Why i asked, only to be told the badges had locating pins so they would leave 2 holes in the body work. I thought makers had stopped this practice years ago, and now just stuck badges on.

It also looked like someone had had a go to remove badges ans bent the L, so now i have to get them to fit a new badge.

Does anyone know if the badges are pinned or is my dealer telling porkies????

This is not a full answer but I was on the M42 in very slow moving traffic and noticed that an IS220 crawled by and the IS220d badge had been removed. Because we were moving slowly I could see that there was no marking on the paintwork so perhaps your dealer is telling porkies...

Just out of curiosity and not a criticism but why would you want to remove the badges? Most people who know Lexus would know that it was a diesel just by looking at the exhaust configuration.

They're telling the truth as there are small holes for alignment of the badges, even though they're stuck on. First discussed this issue on the US LOC site about a year ago. Holes behind the 'L' as well as the 'LEXUS' and the 'ISXXX'.

Yip there are defo holes its been discussed on here before and Chris.s has confirmed this

Hi Basha,

Be wary of de badging as stated in the other replies there are alignment holes behind the rear badge, the model of vehicle is easily identified by people in the know (good or bad) via exhaust, interior and minor differences.

When I see a Mercedes or BMW that has no badges I immediately presume it's the base model.

my dad has got e400cdi without badges. I wish he had e200cdi badging :-)
