Installing & Fitting Gauges

Recommended Posts

Hi there everyone,

Does anyone have any documentation (possibly with the gauges they have bought / fitted) along with images as to how to fit gauges?

I'm okay with most things, but this is something that bamboozles me as I'm not too sure where to begin. I haven't purchased any as yet, but will be looking to soon.

  • Boost Gauge
  • RPM Gauge
  • Any suggestions for a third? Maybe Oil Temp / Oil Pressure / Water Temp?

Many thanks,

Jamie

RPM you can tap into the ECU, back of the speedo, or even the coil i believe.

Boost i'm not sure on a supercharger.

But like Bazza said you'll more than likely get instructions.

you already have a RPM guage............

boost/egt/oil press/oil temp are good chices choices even

also have a water temp and oil pressure :whistling:

AFR gauge would benefit a supercharger

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahem

my lex may have been awol for 14 months.........but i dont recall oil pressure :whistling:

ok!... you have a red light with an oil can symbol on it

when pressure gets low it lights up

not quite a gauge admittedly :winky:

So, I am wanting to fit:

RPM Gauge (a feed can be taken from the cluster I gather)

Boost Gauge (not a clue)

Sadly, an AFR gauge isn't offered in the range that I'm looking at. The choice I have is:

Boost Gauge 0-2 Bar Pressure Scale, minus 76-0 cm-hg Vacuum Scale

RPM Gauge 0-10000 RPM Scale

Oil Presure Gauge 0-7 Bar Pressure Scale

Water Temperature Gauge 40degC-150degC Temperature Scale

Oil Temperature Gauge 40degC-150degC Temperature Scale

Voltmeter 8v-18v Scale

Vacuum Gauge

I definately want the boost gauge - which other two would you recommend?

Many thanks,

Jamie

Why do you want the RPM gauge mate, I'm confused, does it do something the standard rev counter doesn't or are you planning to do away with the existing one

Aye Aido, it doesn't make sense really does it tbh :baaa: Scrap that one then ;)

Okay then, boost gauge defo. From what others are suggesting, the other two I should opt for are the oil and water gauges - both in the temperature variation, or do you mean oil pressure and water temperature?

Many thanks,

Jamie

have a good look around for boost gauges also and get a low pressure version. the standard TTE pressure is approx 0.35 bar and as most gauges (mechanical) are upto 1.5 or 2 bar the needle wont move much and wont give you a geat deal of warning if you have an air leak somewhere.

another option is to go for a low pressure bar/psi gauge from a gauge supplier and put it into your own housing - the gauges are about £20 - 30 on thier own. There are plenty of companies in the UK that supply gauges so if you decide to go down that route you wil have no probs finding one.
