Hi guys, iv been browsing the forum on and off for a while while pondering on the idea of leaving behind my Honda

In the end i decided i wanted to change to RWD, something nice on the outside and also on the inside, being a petrolhead ment i wanted a bit more punch than my civic so after much mind changing again and again i settled on wanting an Altezza

I got a friend to get hold of some1 reliable in Japan and i began my search, there was a few which had caught my eye but they were all in the wrong colours, i wanted a yellow 1 but they seem 2 be pretty hard to come by, also i fancied one with the Legana bumper (im more picky than a woman lol) after weeks of searching and getting impatient i was close 2 settling on a white or silver colour, then out of nowhere a Legana bumper'd Banana appeared and i fell in love, i informed my man in Japan and set him a budget for which to try and get me it, next to days he tells me its mines i was over the moon!

I pay the rest of the due amount 2moro (mon) then its on its way here and should hopefully be here in time for or just after my 21st next month I pick it up from Newcastle and was also going to have it ESVA'd there but thats where i need yor help..

As far as im aware in order to pass the ESVA it needs 2 be completly standard, the 1 im getting has aftermarket wheels, suspension, manifold, exhaust, oil cooler and slotted brake discs.

This is where i need your help if u know anyone selling the mentioned parts in standard form or what i can do to get it through the SVA with minimum fuss, (does IS suspension and exhaust fit?) i.e do the brakes have 2 be completly standard, does it matter tht the discs are grooved? Are the oil coolers standard items meaning ill have to source one or is it an aftermarket extra, in which case i can remove it until after the test?

Im sure theres more but ill come to it as i remember, im looking for all the help u guys can give, anything from the best oil to use down to common faults to look out for etc, recomendations for parts, ESVA's etc

Ill put up some pics in a little while

Well thats my story, look forward to hearing from you all

Welcome to the site mate. As far as i know you will have to get any exhausts bits that have been modified back to standard, the oil cooler is an aftermarket part, I think you will be ok with the brake discs and wheels, but your priority should be the exhaust. is200 and altezza exhausts are the same from the cat back, but different from the cat to the manifold if i remember correctly. Hope the search for standard parts goes well for you! I might turn out cheaper to by a standard one in any colour and spray it yellow afterwards! :shutit:

Yeah i know lol, i had thought about that but didnt want to buy a car in good condition to spray it as i was on a budget so i held out, it was frustrating so im hoping it will be worth it :) Iv just been and transfered the money so its all go from now

Iv been searching online breakers for standard parts and had 1 reply, a place who told me i could have a manifold for £1762.50.. i couldnt stop laughing!

Heres 2 pics just now of what will soon be my baby

Thanks, trying to get a manifold is proving tough, and is it true the exhaust is diffrent from an IS from the Maifold to the cat? as stated by IRLRs200

Really need some people who are familiar with ESVA's to pop along as i have a couple more questions im unsure of at the minute

Well manifold is definetly different as the IS200 is 6 cylinder and altezza is four cylinder, the cat pipe is the only thing im unsure of.

Think the main point is "model report" as far as i know there is one for the tiptronic but not for the manual and that is why manuals are so rare in the england...

Are the rules the same for scotland? as there's a guy on here from up there with a turbo-ed Tezza and that definitely ain't standard...

do a search on LOC - user name " IanF" and alot of your questions will be answered as that poor fellow bought a manual Tezza from an X-trader on here and couldn'tget it registered... he tried everything even changing parts... but in the end he had to sell it off cheap to someone in Ireland where the rules are less strict....

AFAIK there are 2 model reports for the 6MT, one is before early 2001 and the other is for after. Problem is the report for after that date has a specific ECU part number and there are 2 different ECU's, assuming it is the SXE10.

Have a look HERE

As you can see in Neil's link there is only 1 report for the SXE manual, so you would be wise to do alot more research before commiting to the purchase so as not to be stuck with a lovely car that you can't put on the road "legally"...

good luck
