Hi there people i am a new person to this club. i am not currently a lexus owner but i will be owning one come march next year as i have a baby on the way and it meant me having to get rid of my precious car now and go for something elegant, luxurious, stylidsh and at the same time a proper stunning awesome looking car and i chose to go for a lexus is200.

I have admired these cars for a very long time and i would like to know what people like best about them and what they dont like and what people think is the best spec model to go for. i was going to go for the sport but the price difference and what you get isnt much better than the SE spec.

So your opinions would be grateful and any subtle mod websites like, alloys, bumper extension kits, skirts, upgraded rear and front lights, spoiler and exhausts, other than that, i dont want to do any more to it

Hello and welcome to the LOC and congratulations on the baby!

I would go for the Sport as you get some little extra's compared to the others and if not the sport then the SE, but depends if the little extras matter or not to you. There are lot's of bit's available to mod the lexus so i'm sure you'll find something suitable. Prolex and Tdi are very good you'll find links at the bottom of the main forum page.

The only thing that personally i think lets the car down is the MPG but then again it is a heavy car with a 2.0 straight 6 so what do you expect. Apart from that i luv my car and wouldnt change it for anything else. Some people think the car is too slow and i agree it's not as quick as some rivals but to me thats only the 0-60 time after that i feel it holds it's own well. But if this an area your worried about then there are plenty of engine mods available.

There are a few issues when buying to look out for such as cambelt change at 60k, service history, radiator leak, tyre wear (especially inside edges), cd player and paintowrk. If you can try and get a 01 plate IS onwards as the ones before had lots of problems with the stereos.

The only other thing i can say is when you get the car make sure you come along to some of the meets we have. Or if you'd like to see some IS's up close before you've bought the motor then come an join in the fun.

Hi,

My wife has an IS200. She had a baby last november and we had a terrible time getting a baby seat for it!! Almost all of the babyseats dont fit the IS200.

We did eventually get one, I dont know where from but I can find out from the wife if you need one. Just let me know.

Regards

Ken
