Hi Members, Phil from DERBY here, Nice to be on-board.

Nothing much to report after just purchasing my second Lexus, A '99 Model GS300 Sport (mk2) in Luscerne silver, having previously owned the mk1 (a very nice machine!) This Later Model I feel is much improved, So much so that it brings me to my Quandary! I have owned/driven many vehicles over the years, in main due to me being what I term as a 'casual Trader', that is to say although I work full-time in Construction, I 'legitimately' buy & sell vehicles as more of a hobby than to make money (honest!)...I only buy vehicles that i would like to own & not just to make a 'quick buck'., Therefore I have had AMG Mercs', M3's, Quattro's & a whole lot of Jap' Performance kit...So, why do i like the GS300 Sport so much?, Why have i joined the LOC? when I have never been a member of any other marque club!.....Well , I put it down to being "an Old Fart" at 42 years of age, This is no slur on the car, It's just that it's so Dependable, so Nice, so Comforting, so Good Looking, A bit Like the Woman we all yearn for!!.... But here's the Thing!, When you want her to drop her pants! and show us what she's got, just like the good SPORT she is, she will put a big smile on my face :winky: ,And when im finished and feeling that iv'e done something Irresponsible :tsktsk: , Then she'll just go back to being the Dependable, Nice, Comforting & Good Looking piece of kit that i need...'No Trouble' Oh!, and she's not Common either !!

Thanks , Phil (the sexist Lexus)

Hi fella, welcome to LOC :)

Quality intro there :D

I get all the same comments about the car off the lads, I love it though, I think they're aimed at a much younger market over in Japan, sure I read somewhere that the GS is marketed at the 25-35 year old sector over there, just in Europe it's seen as an old mans car!

I don't mind though as this way it catches more people out, it's funny :D

Hi aido, Yes, were on the same wavelength here, the GS300 is the thinking mans mid' size exec'...O.k it doesn't handle like the M3's (ultimate driving machine!) Iv'e owned But i always felt in some of BMW's finest that i had to drive like a budding Lewis Hamilton! , I got to much interest from BoomBox Corsa's & Imprezza Drivers, I was always concerned where i parked a 3' or 5' Series !......I felt similar with the C43 AMG and thought that Merc's lost their way in the mid' to late 90's.

The Quattro (A6)models I felt came close to the Lexus, Understated, very assurred with excellent build quality, A sort of Feel Good (to own) Factor that is hard to define........maybe like a Lexus , not for poseurs but behind the wheel you & enlightened others just Know you're Driving one of the worlds most accomplished vehicles! The Lexus that is, not the Audi !

Having said this, I am getting some admiring comments for the Sport Model, it's a fine looking vehicle that you have to study for a while to appreciate it's beauty;...Again this is the thing!.......some cars in this class are like a page 3 girl (WoW! but you would'nt want to live with it) The Lexus is Cindy Crawford Or any other Sophisticated Stunner you guys WOULD want to Live with!

"YOU WON'T FIND A LEXUS DOWN A SINGLES BAR, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE WHO WILL APPRECIATE & CARE FOR IT.

Well , I put it down to being "an Old Fart" at 42 years of age,

Careful fella, some of us would consider 42 to be youthful. You may not have a choice in growing old, but you do on growing up :lookaround:

Hi Tango, You are definitely right there, Although 'The old farts' suggestion was in fact meant to be a Question to maybe get some response (which it obviously did!)

I think the general understanding is that a lexus (apart from the IS) is certainly owned in the main by more mature owners, thats fine, Toyota were aiming at Merc' owners anyway! I want to own a car that is built to be the best & not just full of zest!

I also know i am no 'Old Fart'......At nearly 43 years of age I was the original 'Punk Rocker' & still wear a Ramones T-Shirt!

I may not do Drugs but I also don't do Viagra either !

Thanks Boys & Girls for the comments, Keep-em coming

PS., Excuse my ignorance...WHAT,WHERE & WHEN is JAE?

Hiya, gotta say def not an old fart's car - I'm only 25!! (saying that, mine is in black and my dad says it looks like a funeral directors car! But he has an LS430, and that suits his 50 yrs much better! Lol! )

JAE is THIS WEEKEND!! Would be great if you could come and say hi! Always good to see more GS's! I'd post a link, but I'm new here and not sure how to! Haha! If you look at the top post in the new member forum it is there. :D
