hi, i will prob be looking for an early mk1 /2 ls400 and would take on board any advice the owners could impart 2 me.

For instance .. whats the diff between an import or uk reg car?

I know i should be looking for good service history and esp the cambelt change. Also expect some small niggles, like dash needles and hifi display poss faulty.

But any other tips on what needs checking specific to ls 400's.?

I will be looking with a mate who is used to checking for standard car issues so no probs there.

Thanks again guys (i will get there eventually)

steve.

service history is a must because suspension parts are VERY expensive as are most parts, timing belt and water pump should have been done if over 100k as for imports I think they are called the celsior rather than the LS 400 but the same car only thing I noticed by some guys is the import is limited to 112 mph

damn that 112mph limiter... it can be removed though :winky:

Mine's still limited even though it's been delimited but I don't fancy driving all the way to Blackpool to take it back to the place where it was done before I bought it!

Anyway I can't do 155mph in the UK.

Only found out on a test track when the gearbox disengages at 112mph.
