I tried to find on Google and the DFT site but I had no luck. Is there anywhere that list the cost of fines depending of the speed at which you are caught ?

Say I have been very very naughty on the M25 but I have a French license so they can not ban me. The officer told me how much I will have to pay but he tried to speak in French so I did not understand the amount :shutit:

How did you manage to speed on the M25, when ever I have been on there I have barely managed 70 :winky:

It was on Sunday afternoon on the way back from JAE, there was very few people, even at Datford there was no queue

I think the UK now has a reciprocal agreement where they can ban french drivers and the french can ban UK drivers. I know you can get banned in France on a UK licence, so I would expect the same in the UK.

that is correct, all European countries now can claim to the court in the country of the license holder. Although I have never heard of a situation of the UK police going after anyone, but many times the other way round. I used to live in USA and when i first came back i got caught on camera and sent them my licence, which at the time was my US license. they didn't even bother to follow it up for the money.

as for current penalty it is £60 see http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/open/c...pdfgradfixedpen on page 6 and page 9 explains the new system they are looking at for graduated penalties

Thanks, the officer only told me about a fine, he did not mention any ban or point

He asked me for a 90euros (about £60) but as I had not them he told me I will receive a letter in France with the total amount to pay but I did not understand how much it was as he tried to tell it in French

To be honest, they were really nice compared to French officers ...

.............so french?

has an address in France?

French license

but dont know how much as the British Police officer told you in French???

French driver

French driving license

French car with French registration

English police officer struggling to talk to me in French thinking I do not understand English :D

I was only concerned by being able to keep my license and be able to catch the train to go back to France and I did not really listened when he told me the total amount at that time.

i would be surprised if u actually got a letter - its so much paper work most drivers with a foreign plate never hear anything further.

as he asked you for some money i assume that was for an "on the spot" fine??? didnt know the uk police do it? I know in most of mainland europe you either pay or your stays where it is - if you dont have any cash with you , no problem they will escort you to the nearest cash machine.

slightly :offtopic: but a friend of mine was telling that in some Scandinavian countries the fine is a % of your annual income..... :crying:

not sure about scandinavia but here in switzerland it is - all depends on your speed though... here is a link to the older % charts it has increased since then.

I think its £60, unless you have been very bad boy, say doing 70mph in 30mph limit :o

Or over 96mph, then i think, you have to go to court, as you might get a ban :o

allegedly you face a ban for breaking a speed limit by 30mph or more

ie 60+ in a 30

70+ in a 40

80+ in a 50

and so on..
