Thats interesting? Maybe i could get a job i fitted mine in around 10 hours by myself and alone. I had my share of problems too and its going good and i did a very tidy job even if i say so myself. What are the wages per hour? Say £60 p/h? :D

Im sure ill get quicker with practice . Honest.

Excellent stuff Rod - well done :)

The TTE s/c kit have its own small ECU that you hard wire to the cars standard ECU.

No other set-up needed.

Yes but why the difference in fitting charges? Tdi can you answer this please?

I would imagine that the difference in fitting costs is due to the different charge out rates, which is a function of the capabilities and location of the company. We charge £80 plus vat per hour (less Gold Member discount).

I woud sugest that a basic duel dilligence analysis is indertaken prior to making a choice of service provider, similar to those mentioned here

For those unaware, the Tuning Industry is awash with Dreamers and Incompetents because there are no barriers to entry. Anyone with a keyboard and set of fingers can create a web site business with misleading and unsubstatiated claims. Unfortunately the clients often don't realise that until it's too late.

Over the last couple of years we have had several victims come to us to put thing right that were done badly "on the cheap" which ended up being more expensive than having it done properly in the 1st place. We have a perfect example of that in the workshop at moment. Thirty five faults by a trader on mkivsupras.net.

The good news is that "natural selection" seems to be kicking in at the moment - at least 4 companies at the bottom end of the tuning industry that I know have gone out of business in the last few weeks.

The advice I can offer anyone is this:

1. Undertake basic due dilligence as mentioned above.

2. Ask the company to provide details of satisfied clients.

3. Visit the company to make sure you feel comfortable with the people you are intend dealing with

I hope this helps a little :)

I understand what you are saying. I work for an major oil service provider and we as a company charge more than 50% more than any other company in our field. Work is really picking up now as our customers now realise we do the job right the first time, our personel are highly trained in their jobs and more importantly our equipment has a very high standard and we have minimum breakdowns/downtime. This then in turn saves them money as some instalations have a rate of £1/4M per 24hr period

Your prices could be as much as 400% more for the same fitment as what Prolex/Charlesworth gives. Also i think Steve must have proved his service as he has fitted many Superchargers? I cant see why that is in question. Also even at £80 an hour that about 10 hours is this really how long it takes to do?

But at the end of the day its your business and it must be working and i wish you every success.

You may be right about Steve rod, i dont know of anyother place that has fitted as many has Steve.

TTE take 4 hour to fit s/c kit and charge about e300 to do the job :winky:

So does the standard TTE Supercharger not have a manufactuers "book time"?

The way my local garage works is that they basically look on their computer to see what the book time for a job is, say 3hours. The job might only take them 2hours, so they benefit from charging for 3hours, but on the other hand, a job might take alot longer and take 5hours but they still only charge for the book time. I like this approach since I know exactly what I will be paying.

Sounds like a sensible approach to me.

I can think of at least two places :)

TTE take 4 hour to fit s/c kit and charge about e300 to do the job :winky:

Tony Goose had the system we supplied to him fitted at TTE. I seem to recall that they had 2 guys working on the car and it took four hours to do, so that makes 8 man hours in total which is about right in our experience.

E300 Euro's is a great price by a great company I wonder if they subsidised it?

As long is everyone is happy with the service they receive & the cost then each to their own its a free country. I was happy with the service & the cost I received (Thanks Dave)....no complaints & I know others are too. Competition is fine you have the choice.

its interesting this one......

i've also wondered about the circa £800 fitting cost. I'm not in the position to say its a good or a bad price and my mechanical skills are poop. BUT, it does seem high in all honesty as i know its something that many people have done themselves and something that doesn't require overly specialist tools (apart maybe for the safety screws on ECU). The fact that other places can charge about 100-200 notes for fitting must resemble this factor?

At the end of the day, i enjoyed watching my s/c being fitted and Steve seemed like a genuine bloke and certainly knew what he was doing.

I believe TTE made about 70 of these units??? If so, Charlesworth have fitted about 1/3 of all production compressors!! That's some going.

Can i ask TDI a quick question......the s/c's you have for sale, have you many left in stock?? Also, do they come with the uprated spring etc etc? I ask on behalf of a mate who is interested ijn buying an IS, but wants an s/c on it ever since he saw mine :whistling:

cheers

i can understand £80 p/h when expensive exclusive equipment is being utilised but not when at the most its going to be a "snap-on" ratchet and 5 different socket and a few screwdrivers

I don't think it's possible to have differenet labour rates depending on what tools are being deployed - that would be a nightmare to manage.

Businesses tend to set their charge out rates according to their costs, capabilities and market forces.

Our team is quite small but very highly skilled. They must have around £100k worth of their own tools between them, plus the company has re-invested around £1m in itself in the last couple of years to add value for our clients, so you should really take these kind of things into account too :)

Hi Rob,

We don't keep any in stock so the supply situation will depend on how many TTE have left (the lastest type)

Thanks for asking.

Hi Mark,

is the price still correct at £2,200 for the Parts as listed on your own website today @15.34

HERE Stage 7 [2327]

and can I buy just the S/C from you as a S/C Parts Kit ?

regards

Wozza

Hi Wozza,

No, I am sorry to say that the "stage Tuning" side of our web site is not functioning yet and has some incorrect information. We have been working on this for months but it will still be quite a while before it's working properly. We still have the "under construction" notice on the home page.

The "parts" side of it is mostly accurate.

I am very sorry for any confusion and inconvenience.

Mark :)

Hey no worries, mines a bit out of date too.

I have an IS200SE Auto.

1 Do you sell the S/C as a parts only kit ?

2 If so what is the current cost for the full kit ? (instead of £2,200 parts only)

many thanks Mark

the supercharger is a full kit, made up of parts

from marks parts page it is advertised at a shade over £4000

Ahh that would be the Supercharger listed under the Turbo Technology heading

maybe that could be why I missed it when looking. Is that price including Fitting,

or Parts only ?

Thanks for the info on where to find it Janey :D

think its plus VAT and the £900 fitting
