Im finding it rather expensive and even difficult to insure my altezza rs200. Tescos seemed to be the best option but when they found out it was an import they would not insure it at all unless you are older than 25. I am 24. Basically i pay 1800 for 3rd party fire and theft at the moment per annum though Axa. I have had a full for more than 3 years but as i only just changed it to a UK license they class me as new driver, as insurance is not mandatory in New Zealand and i cant provide no claims.

Ive only just insured it recently so if i can find a better deal ill pull out. Its completely standard other than some pretty dark rear tints (havent even declared them) Any suggestions of suitable insurance companies please let me know.

Alternatively try Adrian Flux - they specialise for young drivers with lovely cars ;)

Was insured with them last year too so am a bit confused why they said no to you.

Last year I paid £1100 fully comp, and this year £800 with 2 years no claims.

I phoned up Tescos the woman i spoke to said Tescos would not insure that vehicle to under 25s but would be Okay if was a UK car as its in a completely different league or something. They wouldnt even insure me if i was the named driver under an older persons insurance policy living under the same house as me. Maybe i should have lied. The didnt even ask if it was the 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder altezza. They asked if it was a Cheyenne or something like that. I was like "what?" They asked if it was supercharged, I said NO. So its insured as a "avensis" LOL wtf (no through tescos of course), thats what came up on their computer with the registration plate i gave them, for £1700 fire and theft third party. So i dont know what to do...

Visit http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ and click on "Vehicle Enquiry", this'll let you double-check that all's OK with the DVLA.

V5 will just say Toyota with no model, at least mine does anyway. Most insurance companies don't have the Altezza listed on their data base, that's why you need to go to a company that covers imports.

If you have it insured as an Avensis then basically YOU GOT NO INSURANCE. If you have an accident then your insurance will not pay out.

As above, try A-Plan and Adrian Flux, they are brokers and should be able to sort something out.

An avensis I dont think thats quite right somehow.

I know companies sometimes have big problems finding imports but they shouldnt just say it's covered under a completely different model.

well i had the same problem i could only get insured with hyperformance as im only 19 and have 9 points on my record, im paying £2875 third party without the supercharger ect declared lol , pure nightmare

You must be absolutly mad paying that! that's just crazy!!!

My insurance is due in september and i'm with Sky Insurance at the moment. I had a write off in december last year (not a tezza) then i bought rs200 so i'm expecting to pay around the 1400 mark tbh, although i've not had my renewal cost which i'll probably chase up tomorrow.

well guys I got a RS200 25 years old, with my wife 24 years old fully comp only paying £450 per year and I thought that was expensive

I am insured with "2Gether the Insurance Specialist" 01945 465508 (based in Wisbeach)

you will get a better deal if you speak to John or Gary and mention to them you have been recommended by Kam (green Lexus) from Peterborough

if anyone can give you a decent price it will be these boys, good luck any problems let me know and I will give them a call for you as I know these guy really well
