i recall seeing something in the newspaper to the effect that the requirement for a caution was not necessary in cases of speeding and the law was worded differently, so on that basis i would assume it would not work. However, there is always the issue that as in many cases the law is that complex no one seems to know or follow all of it to the letter, i guess you have nothing to lose by sending it.

One loophole for not signing the NIP was closed on 16th March 2004 when Idris Francis lost his High Court appeal.

The only other loophole was the 'right to silence' loophole that has been closed by a european courts ruling early on 30th June 2007

There is a simpler method which is pretty much foolproof and I have known it be used successfully before, assuming it's a speeding ticket received in post not on the roadside.

Anybody who gets such a letter can PM me and I'll tell you how. And the best thing - it costs nothing.

Any of the careful lady owners ever tried the urban myth that saying to a male Traffic cop when asked if there was any reason why they were speeding "I need to get to a chemist..." blaming the excessive speed on their period?

You can still go unsigned for any NIP's issued in Scotland

I think I know the one your thinking about, I'll send you a p.m. about it.

If it is then it's one that I have used at least 12 times, over 50 times including people I know who have used it, works every time.

I dont believe that would work, if you have admittied to the offence they would just send out a Conditional Offer, or if you were over the thresh hold start the court process.
