Luvly Jubbly - But Where Is My Dvd Picture?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just traded in my trusty old IS 200 SE after 7 years of pleasurable and reliable driving in it. Decided to stay with Lexus as the Reading dealership sourced me an 07 plate ex-demonstrator 250 SE Auto in marvellous nick - spotless. Dark metallic grey with the multimedia pack. Only got it yesterday and I'm still smiling. Cabin is a little on the small size, but the toys sure make up for it!!

Anyway, seems I found my first problem (yes I did read the manual first!!). The multimedia pack plays DVDs but I can only hear sound and have no picture. Now I know this is normal when the car is moving for safety reasons, but I still get it when the car is stationary with the footbrake full on. Even happens when engine isn't running, just ignition on.

I'm presuming this is just a fault with one of the detectors which shuts the picture off when car is moving? But has anyone any clues as I can't get the car back to the dealer for a few days.

Any ideas??

Apply handbrake (errrrrm Footbrake) - the dodgy looking pedal by your left Ankle...see if it works then... :whistling:

BTW - enjoy! Welome to this side!!

Cheers Jamboo - if only it was that simple! handbrake full on, same problem.

I think a visit to dealer is on the cards.

Cheers anyway

If it's auto have you tried park or neutral? And have you tried another DVD?

Steve

Yep, it is auto and have tried park and neutral. And have tried more than one DVD.

So I probably agree with Jamboo - dodgy sensor maybe.

Cheers

Are you pressing the "picture" button on the MM display once you have selected the slot with the DVD in?

Sorry if this seems like an obvious thing to do, but just checking :)

Thanks for your replies guys

Mystery over. Car went into dealer yesterday and they found a cable had come loose behind the screen. Simple fix - all OK now. Can't fault Reading dealership yet, they are being VERY helpful in fixing the little niggles I had when I reveived the car last week - for example, a couple of scuffs on the air vent above the nav screen - they just put a new one in - and a scuff on the door pillar trim - again- just fitted a new one. No questions asked. May the good service continue!!

Regards

Chris

Good result, suggests to me that somebody has had the dash out and maybe left the lead loose / disconnected and also caused the scuffs with the dash out. But they have sorted it so that's good.

Spot on Steve

I said I'd but the car on condition it was faultless - which meant that the dealer needed to get rid of the rattle behind the dash - I understand this is a common problem on these cars? Well they got rid of the rattle but looks like they didnt re-assemble the bits properly. But as you say - all fixed now.

Cheers

Chris
