I'm the proud owner of an Mk4 LS 400 which is nearly celebrating its 10th birthday. (Although you wouldn't know it as it's in mint condition, with only 54K recorded miles) I have had the car for less than a month, and just updated the Sat Nav Disk, and will have to replace the FNS air dam which was broken when I bought it.

This is my first Lexus, and don't know why I didn't have one before now. I am constantly impressed with it's power and refinement, which has never been the case with my other cars.

Have been reading the boards for some time so I thought it time to join in and say hello.

I have only recently bought an LS400 (1996 Mk3) and really love the car. Where do you intend getting it serviced? Lexus Dealer?

Hi Spacewagon, hope you don't mind me bunging my 2p worth in.

If you have just purchased a 96 Mark3 and intend keeping her for 2 or 3 years, the resale value will probably be less than £1000. Having a full Lexus history will not be reflected in the price you would need to attain to justify the extra expense of Lexus maintenance. Although these are brilliantly engineered cars, they are not rocket ships, and a confident mechanic will be able to repair and service with no problems. Can fully understand the FLSH with cars up to 5 years old, but our cars, now being 8/9/10 years old, I can see no point in further lining the pockets of Main Dealers, with charges up to and over £100 per hour. I'm sure that a good, local, independant garage would look after you. Regards, Graham.

Car looks lovely and clean and in brilliant condition mate.

Thanks Rikos, I'm chuffed to bits.

All I need now is to try for a walnut and leather gear knob just to finish it off. Seen loads from eBay U/S.

Does anyone know if an GS 300 gear knob is compatable? Here's the spec.

LEXUS ES/GS/LS Walnut Burl Wood Gear Shift Knob,Gray

Fits 2001-2005 GS300/GS430

2001-2006 LS430
