Wiper Water Stinks!

Hello guys,

Hope you can help this is just disgusting!! When I use the windscreen wash the smell that comes through the air vents is disgusting it stinks!! Of Eggs or something REAL BAD! I have tried using all the water up and then re filling and I have 50/50 mix with water and screen wash!????? How do I get rid of the smell?? I have to open the windows to us the screen wash because the smell IS so bad BUT THEN THE WATER DRIPS IN THROUGH THE OPEN WINDOW!

Phew....... Nice to out of the car at the moment#

have you tried adding proper windscreen wash fluid??

you have some form of bacteria in the tank - use a citron based all purpose cleaner, make a very strong mix or even add it neat to an empty washer tank ( it wont harm the paint) operate the sytem until it is coming thru the windscreen and headlight washer then leave it over night. then rinse thru with normal water.

Or get hold of some milton sterizing fluid and mix with plain water

Ok thanks this sounds like a good idea Im going to try this tonight so will let you know if I make it to work tomorrow without either passing out or getting wet!

Yes I did the mix is 50% fluid 50% water It was just screen wash from the local Bp Garage if that's what you mean?

Basically its called stagnent water, i use Halfords scented screenwash. Everytime i use my washers i get a nice wiff of apples :P
