Could anyone tell me if there is some kind of film that sticks on the paintwork at the front to protect from stone chips.

If it is available does it show? does it work , where can it be obtained from?

After 4 weeks the front of my car is definately gathering chips and they show quite badly on the blue colour.

Put "car paint protection film" in google and you will see plenty of sites offering what you are looking for.

I did that just after posting and found lots of them. Has anyone fitted this themselves or is it best left to the professionals?

Don't even think about fitting it yourself - even the professionals can't do it properly. Sorry but can't say anymore at the moment :(

most insurance companies suggest that excessive chips means driving too fast and too clsoe to the car infront. I suggest making sure the car in front just moves out of the bloody way so the lexus can use the road properly.

the films that are used are usually visible to some degree and will decrease the visual attractiveness when its on.

i have it and applied it myself - it takes patience to say the least.

it is easily removed and doesnt leave marks behind. I have had it for 7 years and it is starting to yellow slightly but i have only had 1 stone chip in the area it covers - my bumper however is another story and is covered in stone chips.
