Is the power steering fluid level OK. That will mke a noise when turning the wheels and if it is really low will make a noise all the time. If the level is low, could be the "O" ring between resevoir and the pump leaking? I seem to recal that being quite a common issue.

As Tigerfish says.... and I let mine get very low :crying: (dont ask!) during the summer and thought that I had screwed the rack, but topping to the correct level seemed to sort it out - no noise now!

bog standard atf fluid yeah?

I checked the pot and it seems about 1/4 full on cold - I assume that this is low?

Hi,

Looking in the pot isn't a good guide check on the dipstick marks either do this hot or cold and use the relevent marks.

got some dextron 2 from the local garage and topped up the fluid:

a little from the off, then I went driving, lots of mixed driving and making sure to do lots of lock to lock turns.

I stopped every fifteen minutes and checked the level (when hot) and topped it up a few times.

the last time I stopped it was bang on the marker :)

and

the whining (along with my own) has stopped \o/

I'm gonna keep an eye on it this week but fingers crossed and all that heheh
