...earthing kits may be subjective - I had one on my previous car and it did improve engine response and general engine smoothness - but only a little...

As I bought it secon hand at £25 it was worth the punt...

And if one came up for the IS300, I'd invest in one.

Good luck

sure on the amps....

normally they have a triggerd signal to turn them on and off, if there perm on they will drain power, i take it the seats are wired through switched power of the ignition then

the grounding kits are mostly cosmetic, some say they notice a difference on automatics.....but like you im sceptical

Amps are triggered on/off via the headunit. i think they turn off, they should do. they are supplied through a power cap and this turns off after the car has been stopped so the amps should also be off

The electric seats are connected straight to the Battery (with in line fuse) but the cercuit is only complete when the seat buttons are pushed

I have one on my car and i certainly don't see any harm in getting one,

The theory is to restore any worn/bad earth created over time/distance to battery.

contemplating buying the one you have and is on eBay at the moment, £40 seams a fair price but still not 100% certain.

My power cap switches on when there is power being used ie, unlock the car it comes on for awhile, switch the radio on etc, so you can see if any Battery is being drained once all is switched off it should switch off surely...

As for this Battery talk I still have the stock Battery an it's 8yrs on 101k miles still starts fine everyday or even if I leave it for a week or so... But I would like to know what power it should be putting out on the little Battery gauge on the speedo. When I have my amps/subs on I see it dipping an headlights etc dipping lol... A stronger Battery may help me out abit...

Another classic did u check all ur lights are off ;)

All lights where def off. I had an optima Battery because i have the same problem as you, when the stereo is up the headlights dip. The optima fixed this problem but now its buggered after being left for two weeks.

I have been to a audio place this morning and talked to them, they think that using a relay for the seats will make no difference but im going to look into it anyway. and while im at it i may as well buy that grounding kit! :whistling:

what alarm do you have mate??

yours woulldnt be the first alarm to drain a battery in 2 weeks mate, you can get trickle chargers that keep the battery topped up while you are away for this sort of problem

nice to meet you earlier by the way :D

Its just the standard Lexus alarm, nothing special....unless its the little blinking LED thats draining it, and the one on the stereo???

i might buy one of those solar pannels that plugs into the cigarete socket and leave it in the car when i go away in the future.

Nice to meet you too mate, and thanks again for the cup holder, shouldn't you be working now???

I too want to know how long should the OEM Battery last? My car is 7 years old with the original Battery in it, should I change it, although it starts up the car fine everyday. I have read on LOC that many people have changed their car Battery on cars which are a lot newer than mine. Or am I just lucky?

well bud, the alarm as basic as it is (thats not a dis BTW) will still be draining the Battery, could be something else, but i would bet thats whats pushed the Battery to its demise.

have you checked everything is ok alternator wise and thats putting a full charge over? could be a knock on effect maybe?

and yes.. i should be working, im sat at my desk looking like im working but in reality im sat surfing the net looking at automotive porn and hanging out in the LOC :shifty:

Well when i bought my new Battery from lexus yeasterday the guy said they come with a 3 year warrenty, but he has seen them last up to 8 years+. Its all just luck of the draw and how your car gets used, eg motorway miles, short journeys.

i shouldn't bother changing it until it actual starts going.

if its the alarm then how come the other 3 cars on our drive all started up first time, two of which have alarms!

I put it down to my luck! :(

Thought you might still be at work mate, i used to do the same thing when at an architectural company, in fact i did more net surfing than actual work :P
