Power Steering Leaking - Alternator Problems?

Hello guys,

what (if any) are the early signs of alternator failure due to a leaking power steering pomp or reservoir?

-I've noticed small drop in level on a dipstick in p/s reservoir

The PS pumps on early LS400s are well known for leaking fluid from the pump onto the alternator below. You need to find a garage who can inspect the pump and determine if it's developed a leak or not.

but are there any early signs of the alternator going bad or it just one day will not work???

mine just went was driving one day then the lights come on on the dash and that was that new one on its way

how bad was your leak from p/sbefore it happened?

and how can I prevent it from happening...

It's the 'O' ring that's gone flat on the bottom of the resovoir, dead simple fix, 3 bolts, turkey baster to suck out all the oil and a new 'O' ring, 10 minutes tops,

my leak was quite bad one of them jobs i will do tomorrow never did but has seemed to stop might do it when i get the gear box for it and the new year
