What Would You Drive....

Having had the Lex less than a year, I’m not planning on changing it soon. However, to answer the question, probably and A3 or A4 Quattro or a V50 T5. Either that or use the bike more and have an knackered old Nissan Micra (or similar) for going to work and the shops and a decent hire car for the dozen or so times a year I need to do motorway trips by car. It’d probably be a cheaper solution than having the IS300 too!

Mercedes C320CDi Elegance is my choice.

Oh! hang on, i've already done that and am very happy with my choice. My Lexus IS250SE-L was a great trouble free car but it was not really what I expected. I think I was expecting a smaller version of the LS and got a rival to a BMW. At my age I am not inerested in going round corners faster than anyone else, or accelerating at warp speed as most members seem interested in. Judging by the number of mentions about turbos and superchargers in the forums. Nothing against anyone wishing for that kind of car, it's just not what I want out of a car.

I now have a great V6 diesel engine with an excellent 7 speed auto box and a more comfortable ride. Horses for courses and all that, so if Lexus IS is your choice then you have a very well built great car. :shutit:

Yesterday my IS200 was in for an MOT and i popped into the Toyota garage next door...........

mmmmm....I could swap the beast for a brand new shiny Yaris and yes for a moment..just a brief moment ....I thought about it...cheaper insurance, fuel and brownie points off the missus :shifty:

walked in shop..opened boot, realised the golf clubs wouldnt fit..closed boot and walked out

mid life crisis over

For me, an Aston DB7 or a Maserati 3200GT. Yes, really. Both are down to the £20k bracket which is pretty reasonable for such beautiful pieces of automotive sculpture. The DB7 is essentially a Jaguar underneath, so it's not even 'supercar money' to run either. Both are also old enough, and well built enough, to be a reasonable proposition to own as bugs and grumbles have long since been ironed out, and both have plenty of non-franchised specialists to look after them.

I don't do many miles these days, so may as well get a car I would enjoy when I do use it. And if you're only doing 3k a year, so what if it does 15mpg? The only trouble is insurance is £1k a year, but sod it, you only live once...

If things work out with work, then this time next year - maybe..... ;)

I've had to sell my GS purely for practical reasons (I needed a large estate). I've ended up with the Audi A6, not because I particularly wanted one, but because it had all the features I was looking for, and was big enough for my wheechair, etc. in the back. My GS really spoiled me and limited my choices, since most estates just don't have all the classy features that Lexus supplies as standard.

Mind you, the Audi is superb and the quattro drive gives me peace of mind :) :)

I woud have a BMW E36 M3. My E36 325 Coupe I had before the GS was a great motor. I covered 210,000 miles in 6-7 years with no major problems. I'm hoping the GS will do the same.
