JUST PURCHASED A SERIES 4 LS AND I NEED ANOTHER KEY AS IT ONLY CAME WITH ONE MASTER KEY (3 BUTTON).

I ALSO HAVE A TOYOTA CELICA AND THE KEYS ARE VERY SIMILAR AND I GOT MY CELICA KEYS REPROGRAMMED MYSELF BY DOING THE PEDAL/ DOOR DANCE!

I WAS WONDERING IF THE LEXUS HAS A SIMILAR WAY TO PROGRAMME THE KEY....?

AND IF THE TOYOTA KEYS TRANSPONDER IS THE SAME AS THE LEXUS LS? IF SO WOULD I BE ABLE TO USE IT FOR THE LEX?

AND DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO PROGRAMME THE KEY...

Try this, taken from my original post...

LEXUS KEY PROGRAMMING

First two methods are for programming the transponder chip in new keys

and the immobilizer allowing the new keys to start the car.

Process works with all keys - remotes, valet, non-remotes

Method 1:

Requires one working LEXUS Master Key.

1. Enter the car with the existing master key and close all doors.

Simultaneously depress and release both the brake and the accelerator

pedals.

2. Within 5 seconds, insert the existing master key into the ignition.

DO NOT TURN THE KEY.

3. Within 15 seconds of inserting the ignition key, depress and release

the accelerator pedal 5 times.

4. Within 20 seconds, depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and

then remove the existing master key key from the ignition.

5 Within 10 seconds, insert the new key into the ignition.

6. Depress and release the accelerator pedal one time. The security

light should now begin flashing to indicate that the computer is reading

the new key and programming the system.

7. Leave the new key in the ignition for 80 seconds. When the security

light stops flashing the new key is registered, Remove new key and

depress and release brake pedal 1 time. The programming process should

be complete.

8. Test the new key. Place the key into the ignition and verify that the

car will start.

9. If this is a new remote master key, test the remote functions on the

new key.

Method 2:

Requires one working LEXUS Master Key.

1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.

2. Insert Master key into the ignition cylinder.

3. Cycle the ignition cylinder from On to OFF five times.

4. Open and close the driver side door 6 times.

5. Remove the Master Key and insert the new duplicates key.

6. TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON.

7. The new key will be registered after 60 seconds. The THEFT light on

the dashboard will go out, indicating that programming has been completed.

LEXUS REMOTE PROGRAMMING

Method 1:

1. Sit in the driver's seat and lock all the doors.

2. Unlock and open the driver's door.

3. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it (don't turn it...just

remove it).

4. Using the MANUAL lock switch on the driver's door, lock and unlock

the door 5 times.

5. Close the door.

6. Open the door.

7. Lock and unlock the driver's door 5 times (I'm almost certain you use

the MANUAL lock switch again, but if this sequence fails to work, try

again with the power switch). Insert the key into the ignition and turn

it to the "ON" position. Remove the key.

8. The driver's door will now lock and unlock itself one time.

9. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least 1 second.

10. Close the driver's door.

11. Open the driver's door.

12. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob for at least one

second.

13. Close the driver's door.

14. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob. The door will lock.

15. Press and hold the "LOCK" button on the key fob again. The door will

unlock.

Method 2:

1. Driver door open and unlocked. Key out of the ignition

2. Insert the key and remove 2 times in 5 sec.

3. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.

4. Insert the key and remove it again from ignition.

5. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.

6. Insert the key in ignition,

7. Close the door,

8. Turn to on and back to lock in 1 second intervals. 1 time for add, 2

times for rewrite, 3 for confirmation 5 for prohibition. (yes, there is

no “4”)

9. Remove the key

10. Power lock will cycle to confirm

11. For add or rewrite mode within 40 sec of the confirmation,

A. press “lock” and “unlock” buttons of the FOB at the same time between

1 and 1.5 seconds.

B. within 3 sec press “Lock” button for more than 1 sec and release.

C. If it’s correct, the power door lock will cycle once. If it’s wrong

the door lock will cycle twice.

You should be all set.

Please let us know if it works

Thanks

Pete

:offtopic:

got it r=from ebay.

NOW DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IM DOING WRONG????!!!!!!!

WHAT DOES CONFIRMATION AND PROHIBITION MEAN ON REMOTE METHOD 2?

Confirmation---Informs user of number of existing transmitter codes already progrommed in system.

Prohibition-----Erases all existing registered transmitter codes and cancels wireless door locking operation. Use only if transmitter has been lost or stolen.

I've taken this from instructions off the ClubLexus site.

The instructions are the same as Haylands except for : repeat the locking and unlocking 5 times sequence but this time DO NOT open and close the door. Then do the turning ignition on and off 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 times etc.

Good luck, please let us know if this works. :crybaby:

DOES REWRITE MEAN REWRITE ALL THE REMOTES? OR JUST THE ONE IM DOING?

DO YOU MEAN DONT OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE PROCESS FROM START TO FINISH OR FROM STEP 9?!

WHAT IS THE SITE YOUR GETTING THE INFO FROM?

According to these instructions , rewrite "Erases all previously registered transmitter codes and reprogams new transmitters" Sorry but I don't pretend to understand it all, i'm just reading the instructions.

They come from www.cureline.net but when i just tried to get the site it said unavailable as site being rebuilt.

If you have a fax number i'll send you a copy.

IVE TRIED IT WITHOUT OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR AND NO LUCK.......

LEXUS WILL CHARGE £35 TO PROGRAMME SO IF I DONT GET THIS SORTED THIS WEEK I WILL HAVE TO GO LEX!

Same boat here. I just purchased a keyless entry key and needed to get it programmed (my locksmith was busy and I needed to get it done). I tried the instructions included on the www.toy-lex.com website but the instructions were a bit off. I was able to get my key activated for keyless entry using this set of instructions for my 2000 LS 400. However, these instructions will only work for activating the keyless entry feature. There is another set of instructions that will activate the key for ignition. The instructions on the toy-lex website were correct (on how to activate for ignition) for my vehicle.

Method 1:

7. Lock and unlock the driver's door 5 times but this time use the ELECTRIC lock. Insert the key into the ignition and turn

it to the "ON" position. Remove the key. The locks will now cycle by themselves.

If the door locks do not cycle (lock and unlock) by themselves then the car isn’t in programming mode and you must start over.

8. On the remote, press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK button at the same time for no more than 2 seconds.

9. On the remote, press the LOCK button for no more than 1 second.

10. Close and open the door to end the programming procedure.

Hi this is my first posting. I bought a remote from a site on the Internet and can't get it to work. I am told that the programming won't work because its from Canada and they operate on a different frequency from the European models. Trying to get the seller to send me

a different remote. Anyone had a similar experience?

The American ones certainly don't work. I imagine the Canadian ones use the same frequency as the US.

Found this thread interesting.

One question though - if you buy a used key and transfer the transponder etc into a new blank key will the reprogramming process identified in this thread reprogram the previously programmed transponder?

This is an old thread i'm digging up I know - but does anyone know the answer to Keith's question above?

I've got a key cut and a used transponder. I'm now trying to program the key but haven't had any luck - will keep trying different methods though.

Has anyone got instructions saved on their computer that definately did work on their LS400? I'd be grateful if you could share :)

Mine is a 1999 model

Many thanks in advance chaps :)
