100,000 Service - Timing Belt Et Al

Hi All

Now that my 2001 IS200SE has tipped the 100,000 mile mark I guess it is time to have the big service. Unfortunately, it's due a timing belt change and current tyre issues make me very reluctant to let a Lexus dealership touch my car ever again (especially Oxford).

Any ideas who can do it locally?

My usual excellent independent hasn't the the tools for the timing belt change and so can't/won't do it.

I promised myself that hell will freeze over before I take it to Lexus to rip me off.

I don't care for the "FLSH" - just somebody who knows what they are doing, who others have used and comes recommended - and who doesn't want a king's ransom for the work...

Wherever you go i'd say get it done asap!!

Also, why is you local guy saying he hasnt got the tools to do it??? I was LED to believe that nothing special was needed and so he should be able to do it!

no special tools are required to change the timing belt and tensioners and pulley etc and anyway the timing belt should be done at 60K not 100k

If you want a recommended Lexus (non-main dealer) Specialist, Albin B Motors of Beckenham and they give a

Gold Member discount, but at 100,000miles I would be driving straight to a garage to get it done. :o

Ok, I'm a tad confused - spoke to Lexus Reading today and they said it used to be recommended at 100k but now they (Lexus) advised timing belt change at 6yrs (which mine is a little over).

Does anybody at any of the dealerships in the Thames Valley area know what they are talking about?

Definitive answer - what is required at 100k service and when should timing belt be changed, pretty please?????????

The original instruction for a timing belt change was 100k or 10 years but then lexus changed to 100k or 6 years (it may be 60k instead though i cant remember) either way get it done asap :D

Yikes 100k....get it done a.s.a.p or it could cost you a whole lot more.
