yes this is how it works on my is 250, i always leave it set to the left position.

Hi my 1998 Mk4 automatically moves the nearside mirror down when I have the switch set to the right and reversing.

do u just leave it on left or right? so say i put it on reverse would the mirror go down automatically?

Should do, yes. Whether you leave it there depends on what you want, you might not always want it to dip in some situations. I always leave mine set there though.

But why not just try it and out see?
