Quite like the idea of replacing the stock item with a chrome effect one but a little dubious about the 'kits' available on eBay which seem to amount to a set of stick on strips.

Have looked at this:

Anybody done this or anything similiar on their car?

Also how difficult is it likely to be to remove the existing grille, I've never done anything on the car myself to date that hasn't made me wish I'd never started :)

I used a 'Stick-on' set up on my LS Ser 3. it looked just fine; as far as I'm concerned, it was the same as 'chrome' (in fact, a lot of 'Chrome' is plastic anyway these days). as long as you cut the strips correctly...not a hard job.....it looks fine. And a lot easier than fitting a proper grille!

I agree with Chris, I bought from Autogrilles on e-bay. Cost about £26 and arrived in 10 days. Very easy to fit. I sold the car to my neighbour so I've just popped over to have a close look at the grill. Still looks good 2 years after I fitted it.

I bought one of these for a Grand Cherokee I had a few years ago, I think it was from the same guy, it was well made and fitted perfectly, it looked fantastic all summer but by the end of the first winter the salt from our roads had eroded the chrome and it looked pretty bad, I guess in a better climate such as the USA it would last a long time but not over here.

Lutonmat, when you post pics, please tell us how you got the paint off.... when mine's back from the body shop I will have a go.....

Pete
