Hid Kits

Recommended Posts

There have been a few questions regarding MOT's and legal bits about fitting HID's well to set all minds at rest,

Lexus Poole have just MOT'd my 2005 is200 with the HID conversion kits installed.

The beam pattern did need to be adjusted however they did so and it sailed threw its first MOT with no problems what so ever.

So on that basis if all else fails take it to a dealer they may charge a bit more but there where no problems or questions asked

Alright there every one

I thought I would shed some light on the MOT issue regarding the HID's, as some of you may be aware of I am an MOT tester at an independent garage, If you have HID's the vehicle will not fail as long as the temperature of the bulbs are below 6000k, which is the upper limit for the MOT. Allot of cars now have HID's (Xenon) lights as standard which include Merc's, BMW's, Mazda, VW and others which I can't recall, their temp range tends to be around the 4000k to 5000k which do not fail on a MOT.

So I hope this helps anyone who was worried about putting their car in for MOT.

When i inquired about the HIDs being legal or not at, the reason given that HIDs were not legal in the IS200 is because it hasn't got self levelling suspension, and that only one out of the three tester in their centre would probably fail the car
