Performance Air Filter

Hello all

I have purchased a performance airfilter system. For my 98> GS300

Tell me how hard or easy is it to install, what tools would i need, or should i get a mechanic to do it?

the most i can do on my car is to top up the water, yeah ... yeah... stop laughing.

But i want to give this a go.

What do you suggest?

or is there a website with step by step instuctions or something close to it for my car.

What've you got for it? I know the K&N Typhoon kit for the IS300 doesn't work on the GS (tried it, sounds great but runs like a dog).

10mm spanner and flat blade screwdriver for the jubilee clips are all you need. shouldn't take long.

oh btw, unless it's a full on cold air intake, it will definitely be affected by heatsoak, and you will experience a decrease in performance, but it will sound good! :shutit:

I had a look at it today, and thought forget about it, i'll get someone to do it, just to hard for simple me.

ps what do you mean when performace will drop, are you talking about engine performace or something else?

engine performance will drop, the filter element needs to be fully enclosed in a box shielding it from engine heat

The car needs cold air for max proformance,by putting a mod. air filter on you remove the cold air pipe work leading to the front of the car/bumper.The new air filter then sucks in warmer air from the engine bay around the exhaust.The power you will lose is very small and the gain in sound is well worth it,unless you are running some 400-800 b.h.p twin turbo beast,then dont bother.

got it done today, all i gotta say is wow. it sounds the dogs b***ks.
