Standard Stereo

Hey All,

Im just wondering if anyone knows if you can put an amp and subs into a IS200 with the standard stereo and speakers? I went to the local car shop and they said i have to find out if the car has rca outputs? Im new to this and dont have a clue. any help is appreciated.

for simple answer....No!

but if your a wizz with electroncs you can add some on.......

if i remember right there was on memeber here that did do that....

The factory head unit does not have RCA/Phono outputs.

You need to take a speaker (high)level output from the rear deck speakers (wires visible from the boot side)

and run a suitable Power Cable/Earth Cable/Ignition feed to the boot to supply

whatever amplifier/Subwoofer combination you have. Job done :D

So it would be alot easier to buy a whole new system instead of messing them up. If i was to just take a wire from the rear speakers would i loose the sound off them.?

No, dont cut them, strip back the wire a little and splice to the pos+ and neg- sides some + & - wire to you amp.

Hopefully your amp will take a high level input. If not use a high level-RCA adaptor (about £10-£15)

Don't forget to insulate properly afterwards and even when switched off never allow the 2 sides to contact

each other or earth out on the cars chasis or you will be sorry :tsktsk:

If you are not confident doing this yourself, explain what I have said to the Stereo Shop that is going to do it for you.

If they don't understand....run away and find a different shop :o

Alternatively.... junk the lot & spend loads cash on a replacement .....

thats my plan anyways. going to look at new subs amp and head unit on saturday. is it easy to get a plastic cover for it?
