A couple of guys at work have Vodaphone mobile internet and say it's excellent. It looks as if it does the job without problems, but haven't tried it myself.

all the netowrks offer it now..

pretty much all the same just depends on the coverage on your area.. be carefull too as they have a usage cap and its very expensive when u go over..

t-mobile one is good and you get warned if u go over the cap and not charged the first time..

I've seen this too, not sure what provider, think it was vodaphone. Was this red thing poking out of his laptop...connect, enter password and off you go. but like above as mentioned, stay within ya contract. It was like when mobile first came out..eventually the connection charge will much less and for more etc.

I have the T Mobile USB stick, its ok for browsing and checking emails. But doesnt feels as fast as a normal broad band connection, plus its not really suited for downloading. I only use when Im out on the road and need to check emails etc.

if its purely for a back up and the odd checking of stuff whilst on teh move, assuming the coverage is decent in your area 3 do a service starting form £10 per month.. even better, if you are am existing customer or know somebody that is then you get 50% each month..

so 3gb limit at £7.50 pm and a free usb modem and you can chose which one you want!

bets deal out at the moment..

I have used vodafone wireless internet and was not impressed due to it taking a very long time to connect and also if the signal is weak the internet conection is intermitant which really peeved me off but apart from that it was ok also don't go over your monthly allowance as it is costly...

I think others have the same problems with the signal too.

o2 do one too, it also gives unlimited use of the wifi hotspots HERE

Havent tried it, but have had my mobile phone from them for years and have been happy with there service

its only availiable to exisiting 02 subscribers, quite pricey and not the fastest availiable.. although the hotspots are a good addition.

it is stricly occasional then maybe a PAUG version might be a good option?

The one I currently use is the 3G USB Plug'n'Play, no software or passwords, all pre-loaded into the USB Modem

I'm paying £15 for a 3GB D/L per month, get about 3.8Mb equivalent Line Speed which is not bad for a WiFi Broadband

Mostly use for Video Streaming when not an home - Nightshift at Weekends

If you have a phone that has hsdpa then you can get a t-mobile PAYGsim. You can purchase a 5 day pass which is 2.50 and allows you unlimited access. On my N95 i can get a connection of 480kbps.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have the Vodafone one bit pricey got it when it was full price £30 unlimited downloads

is really good I have used it while being a passger in Johns wagon and kept connected for a 2 hour journey.

it is ideal for when john is working away uses it for sky anytime and downloading music and movies.

I think it gets 3.6 mbps and i soetimes use it when my landline broadband with virgin goes slow.

Hope this helps

Philippa

Do you have a vodafone mobile? You could just add the internet to it - it's £8 a month and works pretty well, just hook up your phone as a modem and it's all pretty straightforward.
