Is200 Roof Bars

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I have posted on here for ages but have been lurking about just fingering me booty (gold booty not the other sort ya dirty gets)

We are going camping in a couple of weeks and given that fact that a 9 month old baby requires as much equipment as Scott of the antarctic, I am looking into ruining what little fuel economy I have left by borrowing a roof box.

However, having never used a roof box before I need some roof bars and found these on eBay.

Roof bar thingy's

Are these the right thing? I thought they would run along the roof and not across it. Also how do you fit them, I'm sure my IS doesn't have the black guttery things with the slide out cover other cars have got.

Any advice would be appreciated of course.

thanks Aztec.

Yeah we are all good, Ickle P is turning into a great character, she could just do with learning how to go to sleep.

I haven't got my manual to hand as the IS is at home, so if you've got time I would appreciate it otherwise i'll have a look tonight.

However sadly I must admit that the IS days are numbered. Mrs P wants to get an estate I'm afraid so I may be offering it on these pages first in the next month or two. LOC will get first refusal tho as its only polite because of all the help you guys have given me in the past.

Just been through my hand book and not a thing about fitting the roof bars but i did find a pic of them fitted and it looks like they hook under the top of the doors in the is200/300 accessories booklet i have so not too sure now mate? But the bars you have found on eBay look just like the ones in the book :D

I'm toying with the idea of selling mine at the moment too but not sure what to go for next?

cool, i'll get Mrs P to put a bid on that. Thanks for doing that for me mate.

Yeah its a shame but even on my princely wage, with Mrs P not working we just can't afford to run the Lex at the moment, and the boot space keeps catching us out :)

THE BARS HOOK IN UNDER THE DOOR FRAME - OPEN THE DOOR AND LOOK AT THE TOP SECTION OF DOOR FRAME THERE IS A RECESS THERE FOR THE HOOKS - BUT BE WARNED DONT LEAVE THEM ON 4 LONG PERIODS( WEEKS/MONTHS) BECAUSE THEY DESTROY THE SECTION OF DOOR SEAL IT RUBS AGAINST.

think the strips just pop out but not 100% sure on that?

Mmmmmm .... are they roof strips removable? I thought they weren't :eerrrmm:

the strips do pull off BUT THEY ARE NOT REMOVED FOR THE ROOF BARS - THEY ARE NOT DESIGNED TO BE REMOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
