Hi all

I have a 2004 RX300 which i'm toying with fitting a towbar to. Quite happy to do this myself rather than the $$$ lexus want but just a query on the electrics. Anyone fitted one themselves and is it a plug in loom or can i take feeds from rear with relevant relays as normal?

Thx

Kev

Hi

Have a look at this thread

Not exactly what you're looking for but food for thought.

Good Luck

I'll hopefully have a Mk 2 RX300 soon and will need to fit a tow bar. I'd like a hidden or detachable one.

To anyone that has one fitted:

  1. Which one do you have?
  2. Did you need to have the bumper cut and does it show?
  3. Does the spare wheel fit with the tow bar installed?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a new RX400H and want a towbar fitted. I found the following lexus site: http://techdoc.lexus-europe.com/default.aspx which has the fitting instructions for both the towbar and the electrics. Although I've fitted towbars and electrics before, this looked to be too big a job for me so the dealer is fitting (don't ask how much - It hurts!)

From the instructions you'll see that only a detachable towbar is availble from Lexus (It's made by Westfalia and can be purchased from several towbar companies for approx £360)

There is a very small cut in the bumper required, but not noticeable when the bumper is refitted

The spare wheel still fits

Ref the electrics, yes its a loom and it looks like a bit of a bu***r to fit

Hope this helps

Bruce

i got a towbar fitted to my rx 300. its a brink removable one and no cuts were done. the spare doesn't fit tho(i knew before gettiin it done) cost about £270 fitted i think? from a very good local fitter. ibasically got it fitted for free when you compare the prices! its hardly noticable when its detached.

i'm very happy with it.
