Personal Thankyou To Tony And His Team At Wim.

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say a big THANKYOU to Tony and the lads at WIM,

Some of you guys know that i've been having a bit of trouble with the handling of my lex and it was eating tyres after approx 3000 miles of driving, And today Tony set it up for me, I've now been home from the meet for about an hour and havn't shut up about it yet! I never realised how much of an improvment it would make to the car, It now feels like a totaly new car, that has a steering wheel thats attached to the rest of the car, On my way home i had the best drive i've had in the 3 years i've owned it! :D

As you've probably guessed i'm a very happy chap, :D and again i say THANKYOU for your time today Tony (lads) and hope to see you all again soon :D

Chris.. :D

There are 2 types of IS owners, those who have seen the Doctor and those who have not.

The former are like "born again christians" or reformed smokers and preach the good word. The latter think what a load of old cobblers

Glad to hear you are happy, and as you say it is like driving a new car.

I'm picking my IS200 sport up next week, and would like to learn more about this.

Firstly what are the telltale signs that the geometry needs lucking at - is it just tyre wear or is there anything about the steering or handling?

Do they all leave the factory right and drift out over time, or does WIM set them up in a way that's better than the factory?

Once done, how long will it last?

Can I ask what the price is?

(newbie to Lexus, apologies for all the questions!)

I can only speak for myself but when I bought my IS300 it had the factory settings for geometry and the tyres wore out within 10,000 miles on the insides. also the car tramlined a lot. The WIM settings were developed over time to solve these problems. First time I had my car done I couldnt believe how the handling was transformed. Also the next set of tyres lasted best part of 20,000 miles. To get the best out of it you should have the car checked up at regular intervals, I have done and its made a lot of difference to handling and also fuel economy is improved.

in short, worth every penny

Telltale signs - inside tyre wear, not very sure-footed - ie ends to be easily distrated by lorry grooves on motorways, 'floaty' sensation to steering

Yes they all leave the factory the same - they will change over time (I think - correct me if I'm wrong anyone). WIM sets them up better than the factory

Improvements - much more planted and sure-footed, no inside tyre wear, sharper and more direct steering

As for how long it will last, not sure so I'll leave that question to one of the members that a bit more clued up on this kinda thing

Price, contact Tony (member name wheels-inmotion) or visit www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk. Not sure what the current rate is. He's a very friendly and nice guy, and he'll give you all the information you need to know.

Keith

Very interesting, thanks to you both :)

I'll have a good think about this when I get the car. It felt very direct and sharp on the test drive, but I realise I need to get used to the car to see if it is a bit out and could be improved on.

Sounds like a really good move, I wouldn't be happy with 10k tyre life that's for sure!

To be honest, you don't always notice that it's not quite right - I didn't with mine. I just took mine along to be WIM'd because everyone said it was so good, and it felt like a totally different car on the way home. Anyone that's had it done will tell you it's more than worth the cost, and it's remarkable value for money.

Mine was very unstable due to it being lowered quite a bit but wasnt the best at normal ride height (how it came out of the factory) and the last set of tyres fitted lasted just over 3000 miles :o Today after Tony set it up, it feels so much better to drive its made a good car a great car to drive and will make a point of taking every car i own in the future to Tony from now on and not leave it as long as i have with the one i have now :D

Just reinforcing what has been said already. I was slightly sceptical initially but thought to myself can all those people be right ?

The car is tranformed, you confirm this withing 60 seconds of driving it afterwards.

I'd never let anyone else set up my car. Nuff said :winky:
