Factory Fit Audio System

It sounds awesome in my IS200 Sport.

I believe there's a separate amp unit behind the glovebox, which might have something to do with it!

Does anyone know who manufactures the headunit/amp/speakers? I read Bose somewhere but have seen no Bose logos anywhere.

Fujitsu make the head unit, unsure about the amp as I binned mine ages ago.

The Speakers just have Toyota printed on them (also binned).

I believe Wozza is right fujitsu make the headunit...pionner i believe make the amp & speakers....

I think the standard headunit is very underrated. I sit at Wozzas feet in terms of ultimate sound quality and setting things up just so, but for my ears, the standard unit is one of the best I've ever heard.

It is very good for a standard factory fitted system, except for the CD Changer mechanism's reliabilty issue.

BTW don't sit there Keith unless I have the trainer tamers in :winky:

Does anyone know how much power the accessory amp provides? (the one standard in "sport")

I've got the enhanced (spelling?) stereo in my IS200 Sport y.m. 2000.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a Panasonic 2DIN 7" touch-screen unit with 4x50W (4x20W DIN).

My concern is if i'm really upgrading or downgrading as i'm pretty satisfied with the sound from the old stereo...

What do you guys think?

Out of interest, has anyone found much improvement from replacing the factory speakers?

Can the amp be easily replaced with a custom model or is the size/connections different?
