220d Engine Oil

I had gone for the 10k miles service before I travel 5k miles this summer, I have just checked the level of the engine oil. It seems quite low just above the lowest limit.The instruments did not indicate any warnings. Do you think it is normal? Have you ever had to top up your engine oil?

i had to fill up before the 10k and 20k service, iam supposed to take the car in every 1k so they can monitor when its using the most oil

I have driven with 4 passengers, fully loaded, air-condiotion was most of the time turned on. The average speed on German and Italian motorways was 100+miles/hour. I think it is reasonable to consume a bit of engine oil...

Mine went through phases where it had zero oil consumption, to phases where it felt like it took almost a litre every 1000 miles!! The dealership did suggest that all diesels take some oil, and anything less than one litre per 1500 miles was acceptable!

At that rate it could have had an additional oil change before each service NEEDLESS to say they didn't see the funny side of that crack!

Just about every diesel I have had/driven over a period of time has been oil thirsty for the first 10,000 miles, after which it drops to 1-1.5 litre every 10,000 miles or so. then from from about 60-80,000 miles you can see a slight increase to about 2 litres, and then gradually up again from 130-150,000 miles. At least that's how my/company Peugeots and Audi/VW always behaved.
